HUNGARY ITALIAN WINE SUPPLY

WINE EXPORT FROM ITALY TO HUNGARY

Hungary is an important producer, with about 83,000 hectares of vineyards (70% cultivated with white grapes), for an overall production of 3.5 million hectolitres. There are 22 different wine regions, each with its own particular characteristics, but the main wine-producing area is central-southern.

In the last few years, thanks also to the national law aimed at reducing generic wine imports in favour of Protected Geographical Indication wines, we have succeeded in gaining important market shares, previously occupied by generic wine producers at very low prices.

The main denominations in demand, apart from generic white, red, rosé, rossissimo wines and rectified concentrated musts, are quality red wines from the main regions in Italy, such as the Rosso and Rosato Veneto IGP, Rosso Emilia IGP, Rosso Marche IGP and Rosso Puglia IGP.
